The Ipswich Motorway is a motorway in south-eastern Australian state of Queensland. It connects as the M7 Ipswich Road Rocklea (Brisbane ) with the Logan Motorway (M2 ) in Gailes and then as M2 continues west to the Warrego Highway ( NA2 ) and Cunningham Highway ( N15) in Ipswich.

He leads us through Brisbane's south-western suburbs of Rocklea, Oxley and Darra and then reaches the eastern suburbs of Ipswich, Redbank Plains, Goodna and Riverview. In Darra he is directly connected to the Centenary Motorway ( M5) and in Gailes at the Logan Motorway (M2). 2008 found that about 80,000 vehicles use the Ipswich Motorway daily. The end of 2010 this number had risen to 100,000. 2002, the morning rush hour was between 7.00 und 8.00 clock clock. In 2008 she was noted between 5.00 und 6.00 clock clock.

Extension

2003, plans for the expansion of the highway. It was reported in the South East Queensland Infrastructure plan and program as one of the most important points. The expansion was necessary to increase the road safety and reduce traffic congestion.

With the support of the Commonwealth of Australia, the expansion between the junctions of the Logan Motorway and the Centenary Motorway was performed.

The expansion from four to six lanes between Wacol and Darra was one of the main promises of the Australian Labor Party in the election campaign of 2007. Apart from the widening of the Ipswich Motorway included the expansion of the transformation of the connection of the Centenary Highway at a height of motorways triangle and work at the tributaries, recommendations aimed at a reduction of traffic on the highway by 20%. The Australian Federal Government supported the expansion of AU $ 3.18 billion The new section from Wacol to Darra was opened to traffic on April 18, 2010.

The expansion of the 8- km section between Dinmore and Goodna began in mid-2009 and should be completed in late 2012. The AU -$ 1.95 billion expensive project, which is in turn funded by the Australian Federal Government will, of the Origin Alliance, consisting of the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Abigroup, Seymour White, Fulton Hogan, the SMEC and Parsons Brinckerhoff, built.

The last part, which has yet to be subjected to expansion, is a 7 km long section between Darra and Rocklea. The planning for this was completed in 2011.

The proposed Goodna Bypass or Northern bypass of the western part of the M2 were canceled after the 2007 elections. This 7 km long new section of motorway traffic would have derived from the Warrego Highway and the Cunningham Highway to connect the Logan Highway. Four bridges across the Brisbane River would have been included.
