Hariharananda Giri

Swami Paramahamsa Hariharananda Giri ( bengali হরিহরানন্দ গিরী, Hariharanandaji Giri, born May 27, 1907 in Habibpur, District Nadia, Bengal, India, † 3 December 2002, real name: Rabindranath Bhattacharya ) was a monk ( swami ) of the Hindu Giri Order and was known in the West primarily as a teacher of Kriya Yoga.

Life

Rabindranath Bhattacharya laid already with 12 years of celibacy vows. A year later followed the instruction in the Jnana Yoga. At the age of 25, he was consecrated by Yukteswar Giri, who was known in the West by Paramahamsa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi, in the Kriya Yoga. More initiations received Hariharanandaji of Yogananda, Sanyal Mahasaya Bhupendranath and Swami Satyananda Giri.

According to his followers Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji have reached the highest stage of nirvikalpa samadhi, the pulseless and breathless state. That was confirmed by Western doctors. While Yogananda have adapted to the Kriya Yoga to the West, Hariharanandaji taught the original technology in India, which was taught by Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri. After he made the most of his life teaching travel around the world, Hariharanandaji settled in his last years in Florida down. Some Indian swamis continue his work.

After Hariharananda Mahasamadhi, Swami Paramahamsa Prajnanananda Giri considered to be his successor. Prajnanananda also published several books (see below).

Kriya Yoga centers there are, for example, in Florida ( USA), Tattendorf ( Austria ), Sterksel ( Holland), and Puri (India).
