Hazem Al Beblawi

Hasim al - Beblawi (Arabic حازم عبد العزيز الببلاوي, DMG Hazim ʿ Abd al - ʿ al - Azeez Bablāwī, born October 17, 1936) is an Egyptian economist and politician. He was a professor at the University of Alexandria, 1995-2000, United Nations Under Secretary General and then advisor to the Arab Monetary Fund. July 9, 2013 to February 24, 2014, he was interim prime minister of his country. Beblawi is a founding member of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party.

Life

Beblawi studied law, particularly public law and political economy at the University of Cairo. He completed a postgraduate degree in economics at the University of Grenoble, where he graduated in 1961 with a Diplôme d' études supérieures (DES). At the University of Sorbonne in Paris, he received his doctorate in 1964 to a national economic issue. His dissertation was awarded as the best of the vintage.

From 1965 he lectured at the University of Alexandria. These appointed him in 1974 as professor and ranked him as the chief economist for the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development ( AFESD ) from. In 1980 he joined Industrial Bank of Kuwait, where he headed the economics department until 1983. From 1983 to 1995 he was Chairman and CEO of Export Development Bank of Egypt. He was appointed for five years Under-Secretary General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia ( ESCWA ) 1995. From 2001, he served as a counselor at the Arab Monetary Fund ( AMF). He also published books on banking, international trade and economic development. He also had a weekly column in the state-owned daily Al -Ahram.

Shortly after the Egyptian revolution Beblawi was in March 2011, the founders of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party. Under Prime Minister Essam Sharaf in July 2011 he was Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister of his country. On October 11, 2011 Beblawi resigned in protest against violent clashes during a demonstration by Copts in Cairo two days earlier, on October 9, back. At the rally, there had been clashes between protesters and the army and armed thugs. At least 27 people died and 400 were injured. Beblawi Essam Sharaf blamed and his cabinet for the incidents.

After the military coup and overthrow of President Mohammed Mursi, the Interim President of Adli Mansur Beblawi appointed on July 9, 2013 as interim prime minister. He should lead the government until a new constitution is implemented.

Awards

Beblawi since 1992 Chevalier of the French Legion of Honour and Commander of the Belgian Order of Leopold II in 2000, he was appointed Grand Officer of the Lebanese Zedernorderns.
