He (letter)

He ( הא ) is the fifth letter in the Hebrew alphabet. He has the numerical value 5 He is spoken as voiced approach (h). In modern spoken Ivrit it is almost silent.

History

The He is a consonant, from which the Greek and the Latin vowel Epsilon e have derived. The shape of the originally Phoenician letter is probably called forth by the stylized representation of pain or joy with hands raised yelp people.
