Heinkel P. 1078

The Heinkel P. 1078 project was developed as part of a tender of the OKL in 1944 for a single-seat day fighter with Heinkel HeS -011 jet engine, four MK -108 automatic cannon and a required maximum speed of 1000 km / h

The basic version P. 1078 A was planned as a conventional aircraft with swept wings. Like almost all the designs this time also had this a pressurized cabin with ejection seat and an optional search radar in the nose cone. In addition, a P. 1078 B was developed with a completely revised structure. Thus, this design was designed as a tailless aircraft with a double fuselage nose. The air intake was located in between.

Both variants were subject to the other designs in comparison. The tender won the Junkers EF 128
