Heinkel HE 57

The Heinkel HE 57 " Heron" was the first attempt Ernst Heinkel to take in metal aircraft foot. The first version of the amphibian was too heavy and could not get lift off the water at the " rolling tests " in April 1930.

In December 1930, the completely re-engineered model went again into the flight testing and received approval in May 1931. Commercial success was the machine but not, Heinkel could only sell one copy ( the German pilot school on Sylt ). After a crash landing on 30 July 1937, the " Heron" was scrapped.
