Glowlight ( Hemigrammus erythrozonus )

Hemigrammus ( Gr. " hemi " = half, " Programs" = line ( half- page line) ) is a genus of tropical freshwater fish belonging to the family of the Real tetras. The native to the northern and central South America fish are comparatively small and swarm -forming. Their systematic classification and assignment to a family is not yet fully understood.

Features

Hemigrammus types are two to four inches long. Your body is elongated, flattened at different heights and sides. The dorsal fin is short, the anal fin long. Both pointed in front. An adipose fin is present. The caudal fin is bilobed. In contrast to the species of the genus Hyphesso, with those in the other there is a close relationship between the species of the genus Hemigrammus on the tail fin base are scaly. In addition, the species differ in the dentition.

Hunting and

The peaceful animals are usually excellent for keeping in aquaria. They prefer mostly a rather soft, slightly acidic water. The color beauty of most animals comes to best advantage against a dark ground.
