Hémilly

Hémilly ( Lorraine Hemly ) is a commune of 143 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The community Hémilly located about 25 kilometers east of Metz. The municipal area consists mostly of forest ( Forêt de Rémilly ), south of the town lies the homestead Galonnier ( Gallenhof ).

History

Other spellings were: Olle Anges ( 1316 ), Omanges (1594 ), Homlange and Heming (1756 ), Hemming (1766).

The place was in the Middle Ages on German language area and was then mentioned as Hemming, but is now frankophon for centuries. Since 1766 he is part of France.

1871-1918 was temporarily Hémilly again to the German Empire, but French remained the official and vernacular.

1915-18 ( and again during the Nazi occupation 1940-44 ) the place was invented by the German authorities Hemelich name.
