Henryk Tomasik

Henryk Tomasik ( born January 4, 1946 in Łuków, Poland) is a Roman Catholic bishop of Radom in Poland.

Life

Henryk Marian Tomasik comes from a farming family and attended elementary and high school in his hometown. After graduation, he entered the seminary in Siedlce " Benedict XV ". He studied philosophy and theology and was ordained by Bishop Jan Mazur on May 31, 1969 priests. After two years in pastoral ministry in 1971 he took his studies in philosophy, among other things with Cardinal Karol Wojtyla at the Catholic University of Lublin again. In 1974 he became a lecturer at the Seminar in Siedlce. Bishop Masur appointed him in 1989 to the cathedral chapter of Siedlce.

On November 21, 1992, Pope John Paul II appointed auxiliary bishop in Siedlce and at the same titular bishop of Furnos Minor. The episcopal ordination he received on 6 January 1993 in Rome by the Pope himself were co-consecrators of Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the substitute of the Vatican Secretariat of State, and Cardinal Justin Rigali Francis, secretary of the Congregation for Bishops. On 19 January 1993 he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Siedlce and was from 1993 to 1996 director of the Institute of Theology in Siedlce. Preparations for the beatification of the martyrs of Pratulin and the Pope's visit in 1999 were led by him. He was also responsible for the Polish youth in participating in World Youth Day in Manila (1995 ), Paris (1997 ), Rome ( 2000), Toronto ( 2002 ), Cologne ( 2005), Sydney (2008) and Madrid ( 2011).

On 16 October 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Bishop of Radom. The solemn introduction to his new diocese took place on November 14, 2009 in the St. Mary's Cathedral of Radom.

In the Polish Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Commission for Catholic Education, the Commission for the Poles abroad and Delegate for Youth Ministry.

Coat of arms

The shield shows on a red background, the white / silver monogram of Christ, the "Chi- Rho " on both sides of the Greek letters Alpha and Omega also in white / silver. The color red stands for the martyrdom ( Martyrs of Pratulin ) P, the cross and Christ and the letters A and O, also Christ is the eternal Logos Rev 1:8.

Standing behind the sign the bishop's cross, above the green Galero ( bishop's miter ) with the six green tassels hanging down ( fiocchi ).

His motto is Adveniat Regnum Tuum ( Thy kingdom come ).
