Style

The Heritage Orchestra sees itself as the antithesis of classical orchestral tradition and usually leads to no traditional pieces of classical music, but his own compositions or compositions by musicians of various styles such as folk, rock, electro, hip -hop and jazz.

History

The Heritage Orchestra was founded in 2004 by Christopher Wheeler, the producer and manager of the orchestra, and the composer and conductor Jules Buckley, who is the musical director until today. Since then, it appears regularly at festivals and in major venues such as the Barbican Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. Currently, the Orchestra is resident at De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill -on-Sea.

Significant performances

One of the first performances of the orchestra was co-produced by Brian Eno and the Royal College of Art in 2008, she led with the band Massive Attack, the music of the film Blade Runner on the Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall in London. In the following years the Heritage Orchestra collaborated with various musicians, including Dizzee Rascal, The Streets, Amon Tobin, Mike Patton, John Cale and Antony and the Johnsons. 2010 joined the orchestra with Jamie Cullum at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London. 2011 undertook a tour with the musician and comedian Tim Minchin, during recorded a live album.

Awards

2009 received the Heritage Orchestra the Independent Music Award for his production with the hip- hop musician DJ Yoda.
