Herlind Gundelach

Herlind Magdalena Gundelach ( born February 28, 1949 in Aalen ) is a German politician ( CDU). She was from 2008 to March 2011, Hamburg Senator for Science and Research. From 29 November 2010 to 7 March 2011, she was also a Senator for Finance and for urban development and the environment.

Education and work

After graduating from high school in Bonn Gundelach began in 1968 with the study of political science, history, philosophy and constitutional law at the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, which they awarded the degree of Dr. phil. finished. While studying she was in 1968/69 as a press spokeswoman of the CDU social committees (CDA ) and from 1970 worked as a research assistant at various members of the Bundestag.

In the years 1981/1982 Gundelach worked as a consultant in the group Education and Research of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and from 1982 to 1984 as Personal Assistant to the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Science Anton Pfeifer ( CDU). Then Gundelach moved back to the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and was there until 1987, director of the Working Group on Education and Science. In 1988 she took over the position of a Head of Unit in the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, where he worked until 1998.

Gundelach is also deputy chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German Foundation for Monument Protection, since 2000 President of the Confederation home and environment in Germany and since August 20, 2012 Church President of the Central Committee of Hamburg's citizens clubs from 1886 rV (ZA Hamburg).

Public offices

After the state elections in Hesse in 1999 Herlind Gundelach was appointed State Secretary in the Hesse Ministry for the Environment, Agriculture and Forestry. In 2004 Gundelach changed as State Councillor of the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment in Hamburg. As of May 7, 2008 Gundelach Senator for Science and Research, and thus was Präses ( Head of Department ) of the Ministry of Science and Research in Hamburg (Senate von Beust III, from August 25, 2010 Senate Ahlhaus ).

After breaking the black - green state government GAL senators by Christoph Ahlhaus were dismissed from their posts on November 29, 2010. Previously finance minister Carsten Frigge (CDU ) had resigned in connection with the party funding scandal of Rhineland-Palatinate CDU. On 30 November 2010, the remaining members of the Senate approved a new allocation for the period up to the state election in February 2011. Gundelach here took over the functions as president of the Financial Authority and as President of the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment. In the general election in 2013, she moved about the Hamburg state list in the Bundestag.

Herlind Gundelach is married and has one daughter.
