Hermann Haller (film editor)

Hermann Haller ( * December 15, 1909 in Zurich, † June 21, 1985 in Boswil ) was a Swiss cutters, film director and screenwriter.

Life

Hermann Haller began fourteen years old as a film critic and procured at the Bavarian State School for Photography essence an insight into the film technique. The production company Emelka he first worked as a dramaturge.

Soon, Haller went to Berlin and formed the Tobis - tone image Syndicate for cutter made. In the silent film The White Hell of Pitz Palu the age of twenty at the side of Arnold Fanck recorded for the first time responsible for the image section. In 1936 he escaped the Nazi film policy by, he moved to Austria, where he worked primarily with the film director Géza von Bolváry.

After the connection of Austria in 1938 Haller returned to Switzerland and took over important film responsibilities as defined in the spirit of Defence. Except as Cutter he worked several times as a director or acted as artistic Oberleiter by standing inexperienced directors to the side.

After the war he moved gradually to German cinema. In the sixties, Haller was involved, among others, several Karl May movies and Edgar Wallace movies. Towards the end of his career, he also worked on a variety of leather pants movies.
