Herrenhof

Manor is a municipality in the district of Gotha, Thuringia. She is a member of the administrative community Apfelstädtaue based in George valley.

Geography

Manor is a municipality with an area expansion of about 440 ha The site has about 850 inhabitants. The town is located on the northern slope of the Thuringian Forest at the junction of George Street Thal to High churches. In the south east of the village lies the industrial area Ohrdruf - High Church manor.

History

Manor was first mentioned in documents in 1126.

Manor was in 1674 affected by witch hunts. Marthe Landzin, 60 years old, wife of former mayor Hans Landz, came under the charge of possession of a dragon in a witch trial and was burned.

The Church

Even 12 to 17 century there was a chapel in manor. The first mention of it was in 1143 in a document of the monastery Reinhardsbrunn. To the manor district were at war at that time the monasteries Reinhardsbrunn and George Dale. The dispute ended in 1186 in favor of George Dale. End of the 17th century, the dilapidated chapel was replaced by a new building of 1692. Four years later, the church was consecrated as a branch of the High Church.
