Herzliya

Herzliya (Hebrew הרצליה [ hɛrtsɛ'lija ], Arabic هيرتزيليا ) is a city in Israel.

Location

Herzlia is located about 15 km north of Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean in the Plain of Sharon. It belongs to the metropolitan area of ​​Gush Dan, located in the Israeli Tel Aviv District. The city is popular with tourists, not only because of the many hotels, but also because of the marina.

History

Herzliya was founded on 23 November 1924 by seven people as Moschawa. It is located near the ruins of Crusader Arsuf and is named after Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern Zionism.

On April 11, 1960 Herzlia got the status of a municipality.
