Hilmar Myhra

Hilmar Myhra Arnold ( born June 5, 1915 in Kongsberg, † April 13, 2013 ) was a Norwegian ski jumper.

His international career began Myhra with jumping in Vikersund in February 1936, which he also won. He jumped with a new hill record of 85 m, which was only broken in 1946 by Arnholdt Kongsgård.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1938 in Lahti, Finland, he won behind Asbjørn Ruud and Stanisław Marusarz the bronze medal on the large hill. A year later he was at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1939 in Zakopane, he was on the large hill in sixth. In March 1940 he won just before the attack by the Germans on 9 April 1940 against Norway ( company Weserübung ) the Norwegian championship of the normal hill.

In the summer months Myhra played football for his hometown club Kongsberg IF. Having, however, in August 1945 severely injured in a game, he had to end his athletic career.

In Kongsberg of Hilmar Myhras vei (German Hilmar - Myhras - way ) is named after him.
