The Högl in the Bavarian district of Berchtesgaden is a maximum of 827 meters. NHN high mountain range with peaks located near Anger. Location

The Högl lies in the Flyschalpen east of the Chiemgau Alps located in the cultural landscape Rupertiwinkel. Its eastern foothill ends at the Saalachstrasse which forms a section of the border of Germany and Austria here. Economy and infrastructure

Previously, the Högler sandstone was extracted at Högl. In the heyday in the 18th and 19th century, the stone used in numerous religious and secular buildings in the nearby town of Salzburg (eg Erhard Church and Salzburg Residenz). In addition, as the agricultural sector door frames and window jambs from Högler sandstone were manufactured. At the beginning of the 20th century the mining came to a standstill. A restored sandstone quarry can be visited in the village of Ainring near the clubhouse Ulrichshögl.

Traffic

Culture and buildings

To the east of the ridge is on the Johannishögl (700 m; community Piding ) the Gothic Church of St. Johann. Near the Johannishögl is the village belonging to Ainring Ulrichshögl with the Branch Church of St. Ulrich.
