The High Pön at Stryck is a 792.7 m above sea level. NN high hill of the Rothaargebirge in Waldeck- Frankenberg in northern Hesse, near the border with North Rhine-Westphalia Hochsauerlandkreis ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The High Pön located in Upland, the northeastern part of the Rothaargebirge, in the Natural Park Diemelsee. Its summit rises in Northern Hesse, about 1.5 km south of Stryck in the district of Usseln ( districts of Willingen ) and 750 m northeast of the Westphalian boundary corresponding to the interface of Upland and Sauerland ( depending on distance); across the border is at its south-eastern flank Titmaringhausen (district of Medebach ).

To the west of the High Pön is passed from the upper reaches of Itter, which rises a few kilometers to the southwest and is a southwestern Diemel inflow. To the east rises the Itter inflow Aarbach. Among the neighbors of the wooded mountain include mill head ( 825 m ) in the northwest, Auf'm Knoll ( 738.4 m) in the east-southeast, Krutenberg (785 m) in the south and Hegekopf ( 842.9 m ) in the west.

Watershed

About the High Pön the Diemel-Eder/Fulda/Weser-Wasserscheide runs. This means that the current flowing to the northeast Itter drained by the Diemel into the Weser, while the water of the small hot corner, which rises on its southeastern flank, flows toward the southeast and a southern detour via Wild Aa (from the middle reaches Aar called ), Orke, Eder and makes Fulda to the Weser.
