Holger Freitag

Holger Friday ( born October 8, 1963 in Stone Heidel - Erlabrunn ) is a former German ski jumper.

Career

On December 30, 1980 Friday in Oberstdorf jumped his first jump in the ski jumping World Cup. However, the first three years of his career have been largely unsuccessful.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1982 in Oslo reached Friday on the normal hill and 27th in the large hill to the 39th place. In the team competition, he came together with Matthias Buse, Klaus Ostwald and Manfred Deckert to 4th place and just narrowly missed a medal. On January 6, 1983 Friday jumped in Bischofshofen first time with an 11th place on a score ranking. Two days later he won his first and only World Cup competition in Harrachov. At the end of the 1983/84 season he finished in 29th place in the overall World Cup standings.

At the 1984 Winter Olympics Friday jumped to 35th place in the competition on the normal hill.

The Four Hills Tournament 1984/85 he dropped out after two mediocre in Oberstdorf and Garmisch -Partenkirchen. In 1986, he denied another three World Cup competitions, where he once again jumped in Liberec with 8th place in the top ten. His last World Cup, he finished on February 21, 1986 in Gstaad in 13th place.

After his career, he studied medicine and received his doctorate. He is a specialist in orthopedics and worked as a resident doctor in Auerbach.

Private

His son Richard is also a ski jumper.
