Hong Un-jong

Hong Un -jong ( born March 9, 1989 in Hamgyeong -do) is a North Korean gymnast. At a height of 1.55 m her competition weight is 43 kg.

Career

Hong Un -jong began in 1996 with the gymnastics. Her twin sister Hong Su -jong is also a successful gymnast. Hong made ​​his first international at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in 2006 in Aarhus, Denmark in appearance. There she started in the all around, on balance beam, floor, or in the team competition, uneven bars and in the jump, but failed to qualify for the finals and not counted Rank 16 at the jump to their best placement. A year later she again took part in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart and took a 23rd place in the all around. At the same time reached the Hong apparatus finals on vault, where she missed a medal place behind the Chinese world champion Cheng Fei, her sister Hong Su -jong and the American Alicia Sacramone. In 2008, she finally succeeded in their parade unit, the first World Cup victory in Maribor, Slovenia, where she also took a fourth place on uneven bars. That same year, Hong took in the absence of her sister participated in the Summer Olympics in Beijing and qualified for the apparatus finals at the jump. With jumps and a high degree of difficulty of 6.5 it was surprisingly let the German Oksana Chusovitina and the favored Cheng Fei behind and won the gold medal. It was the second Olympic gold medal in gymnastics North Korea, since the gold medal on Pommel Horse by Pae Gil -su at the Games of Barcelona 1992.
