Horní Lhota (Zlín District)

Horni Lhota is a municipality in Zlín in the Czech Republic. It is located in the south of Moravian Wallachia in Luhačovice.

History

Name in German language were top Lhota (1869, 1880, 1939) and Oberlhotta (1900, 1910). From 1964 it was united with the neighboring municipality of Dolni Lhota u Luhačovic to Lhota u Luhačovic.

Attractions

  • Castle ruins called Engelberg, also Sehradice, about 1.5 km from Horni Lhota. Preserved are various foundations and remains of walls, the floor plan of the castle can be traced through the landscape reliefs. Until the 1820s there was confusion about the actual location of the former fortifications, they guessed at Slavičín or Sehradice. Alternative common names are Sehrad and Tetov.
