Hösseringen is a municipality in the Samtgemeinde Suderburg Suderburg and located in the southwestern district of Uelzen, Lower Saxony.

Geography

Hösseringen located between Hamburg and Hanover, in the midst of the Lüneburg Heath. The town is dominated by the landscape of the Hohe Heide and the surrounding extensive forests, which extend southwest to Eschede.

Geology

The town is crossed by terminal moraines of the penultimate ice age and located accordingly on several hills and small hills. Approx. 2 km southeast of the village rises the Hardau, which leads to their further course through the Hardautal between Holxen and Holdenstedt in the Gerdau. On July 1, 1972 Hösseringen was incorporated into the municipality Suderburg.

Culture and sights

  • Nationally known the place is by the approximately ten -hectare area of the museum village Hösseringen. The museum village is also the starting point of the forest history Schooten path that leads through the same forest area and at ten stations the transformation of agriculture and forestry in the Lüneburg Heath describes.
