Hozat

Hozat also called Xozat is a district of Tunceli Province in Turkey. Was Hozat before 1938 the center of the province of Dersim. Today it is in the west of the province and has an area of 777 km ². The county Hozat has 8,209 inhabitants (as of 2011). Most of the people live ( 6,152 inhabitants) in the city Hozat. To the north are mountains with an altitude of 2500 m ( Yilan Dagi and Sari Saltık ). Direction Pertek decreases the height of 1,000 meters above sea level. Zazaki and Kurmanji are the most common languages ​​of the district. Armenian was once also common.

The city Hozat consists of the four districts ( Mahalle ) Fikripaşa, Hamidiye Köprübaşı and Yenimahalle. In addition, there are 30 villages in the district ( Koy ) and 118 hamlets ( Mezra ).
