I Solisti Veneti

I Solisti Veneti (Italian for "The Venetian soloists " ) is an Italian chamber orchestra.

History

The orchestra was founded in 1959 by the conductor Claudio Scimone in Padua. It is one of the most famous orchestras in Italy and has undertaken tours to over 60 countries (Europe, North and South America, Japan, Australia) as well as at numerous international music festivals guest appearances ( as from 1965 to 1998 every year at the Salzburg Festival ). Among the singers and instrumentalists who have performed with I Solisti Veneti, include Plácido Domingo, Marilyn Horne, Chris Merritt, Ruggero Raimondi, Katia Ricciarelli, Lucia Valentini Terrani, Salvatore Accardo, Paul Badura- Skoda, Maurice Bourgue, Stanislav Bunin, James Galway, Kenneth Gilbert, Yevgeny Kissin, Nikita Magaloff, Jean -Pierre Rampal, Sviatoslav Richter, Mstislav Rostropovich and Uto Ughi.

Repertoire

I Solisti Veneti deal preferably with the music of Antonio Vivaldi and his contemporaries ( Albinoni, Geminiani, Marcello, Tartini and others), but also with works from the 19th and 20th century. The orchestra has more than 300 records and CDs recorded, including world premiere recordings of Vivaldi's Orlando furioso and Catone in Utica, Albinoni's Il Nascimento de l' Aurora, as well as Rossini's Armida and Zermira. Several shots were with awards (including " Grand Prix du Disque ", " Grammy Award ", " Diapason d'Or ").
