Ian Gomez

Biography

Gomez was born in New York City, the son of an actor and a dancer. He is married since 1993 to actress and screenwriter Nia Vardalos, who played the female lead role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Ian played in this movie, " Mike", the best friend of the male protagonist. The pair also played together in the crime comedy Connie and Carla. Gomez has Puerto Rican and Russian Jewish ancestors, and later moved to the Greek Orthodox Church when he married Vardalos.

After minor roles Gomez began his career in 1995 with the U.S. comedy series The Drew Carey Show. Since 2009 he plays a starring role in the comedy series Cougar Town.
