Ihor Vozniak

Ihor Voznyak CSsR, Igor Vozniak, Polish Igor Wozniak, Ukrainian: Ігор Возьняк, ( born August 3, 1952 in Lypytsi, Lviv Oblast, Ukraninische SSR ) is the reigning Archbishop of Lviv of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Life

Ihor Voznyak completed after school education and training as a technician and fulfilled his military service. 1973, he joined a convent of the Redemptorists ( Order code: CSsR ) a. In Lviv, he studied until 1980, at the seminary, philosophy and theology. On November 23, 1980, he was ordained a priest of the Redemptorist Order.

His eternal vows he took off on July 2, 1981. After his ordination he worked as a priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lviv. During this time he supported local priest, the partially exercised their pastoral duties in the underground. Since 1989, he served in Ternopil. From 1990 to 1996 he was Provincial of his Congregation for Religious province Lviv. In 2001 he became a licentiate of Catholic theology in Rome.

His appointment as Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv and the simultaneous appointment as Titular Bishop of Nisa in Lycia on 11 January 2002. On February 17, 2002 Major Archbishop consecrated him Ljubomyr Cardinal Husar and the co-consecrators Archbishop Michael Bzdel CSsR (Winnipeg ) and Bishop Mykhajlo Sabryha ( Ternopil ) bishop.

After joining the office of the Major Archbishop of Lviv to Kiev, Voznyak was appointed on 10 November 2005 by Cardinal Husar for the first archbishop of Lviv archeparchy. Pope Benedict XVI. confirmed the appointment. From 10 February to 25 March 2011 during the period of vacancy in the Kiev - Halych Großerzbistum, he was Apostolic Administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the Ukrainian Catholic Großerzdiözese Kiev - Halych.

Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk of principal consecrator Voznyak was Titular Bishop of Castra Galbae (later Major Archbishop of Kyiv - Halych ) and Valeriy Aleksiychuk titular bishop of Gernaniciana ( Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv ). As Mitkonsekrator he assisted in Bohdan Dzyurakh titular bishop of Vagada ( Auxiliary Bishop of Kiev).
