Ilya Markov

Ilya Vladislavovich Markov (Russian Илья Владиславович Марков, English transcription Ilya Markov, . Born June 19, 1972 in Asbestos, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Soviet Union ) is a Russian track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner.

At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he won the silver medal behind the Ecuadorian Jefferson Pérez ( gold ) and before the Mexicans Bernardo Segura ( Bronze) in the 20 km walk.

1998 was followed by the gold medal at the European Championships. At the 1999 World Championships at the Olympic Stadium Seville, Spain, he won the gold medal ahead of Jefferson Pérez ( silver ) and the Mexican Daniel García ( bronze). Also, in the following 2001 World Championships in Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada, he was able to convince a silver medal, behind the Russian novel Rasskasow ( gold ) and before also coming from Russia Viktor Burajew (bronze).
