Impossible Princess, released in Europe under the title of Kylie Minogue, is the sixth studio album by Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue from the year 1998.

Background

For the album title itself Minogue drew inspiration from the poetry book Poems to break the harts of impossible princesses of the English poet and singer Billy Childish. This she had received as a gift from Nick Cave, after they had collaborated with the Australian singer of the hit Where the Wild Roses Grow.

The publication of Impossible Princess was planned for 22 September 1997. After the tragic death of Princess Diana, the album title was published, however, inappropriate and disrespectful. The publication was moved and destroyed all copies already pressed. The album was released then half a year later under the title of Kylie Minogue. This has led to confusion, since even their previous album from 1994 had the same name. Minogue's Australian record company Mushroom however, decided to retain the title Impossible Princess and released the album under this name in March 1998.

To distinguish the work from the first album titled Kylie Minogue, was always spoken of Kylie Minogue in 1998, among fans and of itself Minogue album, however, was always called Impossible Princess. Publish the remastered version of the album, which was released along with a bonus CD in 2003, the title Impossible Princess was chosen.
