Imre Szellő

Imre Szello ( born July 27, 1983 in Cegled ) is a Hungarian boxer.

Career

Imre Szellö began as a teenager in 1995 with the boxes. At a size of 1.84 meters, it started already as a junior middleweight ( 75 kg body weight) and grew as a senior in the light heavyweight (up to 81 kg body weight) into it. In Hungary, he launched first for the Kecskemet SC Vasas Budapest and then for. But he also started already for the BC DTJ Prostejov and fought in the German Bundesliga for the BC Eichstätt, the MBR Hamm and Hertha BSC Berlin. Imre Szellö is married, has a daughter and lives in Kecskemet.

The international career of Imre Szellö began quite successful, because he finished in 2001 at the Junior European Championships in Sarajevo middleweight 3rd place. Then he needed in Hungary some time before he was able to prevail and No. 1 in the middle or heavyweight was. Especially Károly Balzsay and Istvan Szucs proved in the years 2002 to 2005 for him in Hungary as tough opponents.

In 2004 he was first Hungarian champion at middleweight, but in the absence of Károly Balzsay, which was preferred to him in the Olympics this year in Athens. In 2006 Imre Szellö occupied at the Hungarian championship in the light heavyweight after one defeat in the final battle against Istvan Szucs ( 11:12 ) 2nd place, but was used at the European Championships in Plovdiv. He came there to abort victories in the third round of Petr Novotny, Czech Republic and Babacar Kamara, Sweden, before he had to be taken in the quarterfinals against Ismail Sillach from Ukraine in the first round due to an injury from combat. He finished in a good 5th place.

Also at the 2007 World Championships in Chicago occupied Imre Szellö heavyweight the 5th Place. He came to a noncombat victory over Lennon Bannis, DMC and to a termination - ide 2nd round victory over Matt Corbett from Australia. Counter Artur Beterbijew from Russia he lost on points ( 9:25 ). With this good 5th place but he already qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

A medal won Imre Szellö in the championship of the European Union ( EU) in Cetniewo / Poland. He suggested there Marijo Šivolija from Croatia by points ( 18:10 ) and lost in the semi finals of this championship against Tony Jeffries from England almost 11:12 with hits. At the Olympic Games in Beijing he had a demolition victory in the first round of Luis Gonzalez of Venezuela. In the quarterfinals, he was again defeated Tony Jeffries on points ( 2:10 ) and came for the third time in succession at a major international championship the 5th Place.

In 2009, he then succeeded in the championship of the EU in Odense to win the title. He needed to light heavyweight four wins, which he beat the silver medalist of Beijing 2008 Kenneth Egan of Ireland on points ( 7-6 ) in the semifinals. After he had beaten at the 53rd Bocskai Tournament in Debrecen the European champions in 2006 and runners-up from 2007 Artur Beterbijew on points, he went full of confidence for the World Cup 2009 in Milan. There, however, he experienced a nasty surprise, because even in the first round proved to him the South Korean Kim Dong- hee to be too strong and defeated him with 13:7 hits on points. For Imre Szellö thus remained only the 33rd place.
