Indian Rocks Beach is a city in Pinellas County in the U.S. state of Florida nit 4,113 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Indian Rocks Beach is located on Florida's Gulf Coast, bordering the cities of Largo and Belleair Beach. The city is located about 5 km south-west of Clearwater and 35 km west of Tampa.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 4,113 inhabitants distributed to 3,476 households. The population density was 1713.8 inh. / Km ². 96.2 % of the population were white, 1.0% African American, 0.2% Native American and 0.7 % Asian Americans. 0.6 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.3% in different ethnic groups. 5.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 29.8 % of all households lived in 13.5 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 49.9 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.88 persons and the average family size is 2.43 people.

11.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.3% were 20-39 years old, 38.8 % were 40-59 years old and 32.1% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 52 years. 49.9 % of the population were male and 50.1 % female.

The average annual income was $ 59,693, while 5.1% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.12 % of the population spoke Spanish 4.73% and 3.15 % had a different mother tongue.

Traffic

The city is crossed by the Florida State Roads 688 and 699. The nearest airport is St. Petersburg- Clearwater International Airport ( some 15 km east).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 242 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were six rapes, a robbery, 15 injuries, 22 burglaries, 81 thefts and four car thefts.
