Iranian constitutional referendum, 1963

The referendum in Iran in 1963 was a referendum on the White Revolution of Iran. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi could be confirmed to be 6 -point program by referendum on 26 January 1963. The great landowners and clerics, led by Ruhollah Khomeini, were against a referendum and called for a boycott.

Results and consequences

With the consent of Iranians to the planned reforms following reforms could be implemented:

Ruhollah Khomeini was opposed by the referendum against the reforms and attacked on 3 June 1963 Shah personally. The call Khomeini against the reforms led to unrest in Iran in June 1963 and his arrest.
