Jackson Carlaw

Jackson Carlaw ( born April 12, 1959) is a Scottish politician and member of the Conservative Party.

Life

Prior to his entry into the Scottish Parliament Carlaw was over 25 years in the automotive industry in Glasgow operates. He then worked as an independent business consultant. Carlaw is married and lives with his wife and two sons in südwestschottischen Troon.

Political career

1978 Carlaw joined the Conservative Party. After the death of the Labour MP Frank McElhone Park 1982 elections were due in whose constituency Glasgow Queen's. These Carlaw approached, but received only the third highest share of votes and thus failed to reach the British House of Commons. At the regular general election in 1983, he then applied for the direct mandate of the Glasgow Pollok constituency, but was defeated by Labour politician James White. Finally Carlaw was elected 1992-1998 Vice Chairman of the Scottish Conservatives.

In the Scottish Parliament elections of 2003, Carlaw applied for the direct mandate of the constituency Eastwood and was following his party colleague John Young. However, he only received the second highest number of votes behind the Labour candidate Kenneth Macintosh and thus missed the direct mandate of the constituency. In the following 2007 parliamentary elections Carlaw occurred again in Eastwood, but missed the mandate despite Stim gains a further time.
