Jacquère

Jacquère is an indigenous white grape variety of the French Savoy region, and is widely used there. It is in France about 1,052 hectares ( ONIVINS, Statistics 2007 ), the trend is stagnant since 2005. The species was first described on September 21, 1868. Tochon Pierre held during a wine fair in Chambery a lecture on viticulture in Savoy and the description had been made for this occasion.

The yielding variety produces fruity white wine with a flowery bouquet and on very poor soils a typical flint taste. It is sensitive to black rot and raw rot. In contrast, it is not very sensitive to the genuine - and downy mildew.

It is used as a blending partner in the white and rosé wines of the appellation Vin du Bugey and Vin de Savoie. Also in French-speaking Switzerland are known small stocks. In Portugal the variety in the regions of Ribatejo and Oeste is approved.

In France, the clones 569, 629, 658, 769, 788 and 923 are approved for the expansion of quality wines.
