Jacques-Paul Martin
Jacques -Paul Cardinal Martin ( born August 26, 1908 in Amiens, France; † 27 September 1992 State of the Vatican City ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.
Life
After Jacques Martin had studied from 1929 to 1934 Catholic theology and philosophy at the University of Strasbourg, the Pontifical French Seminary in Rome, the Pontifical Gregorian University, he received on 14 October 1934, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Strasbourg. This was followed by doctoral studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, where he in 1936 to Dr. theol. received his doctorate, and 1936-1938 postgraduate studies at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy and the Doctorate of Canon Law at the Pontifical Lateran University.
1938 Martin then entered the service of the Vatican Secretariat of State. On June 2, 1941 he gave Pope Pius XII. the title of Pontifical secret chamberlain and on June 20, 1951 Title House Prelate of His Holiness. 1954 Jacques Martin was Special Papal Envoy to the celebrations of the silver jubilee coronation of the Emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie on December 10, 1958 he was appointed Pius XII. to the canons of the Vatican Basilica and gave him the title of Apostolic prothonotary.
