Jake Zamansky (skier)

Jake Zamansky ( born June 26, 1981 in Aspen ) is a former American alpine skier. He drove in all disciplines and celebrated his greatest successes in the giant slalom. He won in the season 2005/ 06 the total and the giant slalom standings of the Nor -Am Cup and reached the World Cup as a best finish a 15th place.

Biography

Zamansky was already at the age of two years on skis and drove his first race with children eight years. In December 1996, he first participated in FIS races, bets in Nor -Am Cup followed in November 1998. At Junior World Championships where he attended from 2000 to 2001, his best result was found a sixth place in the combination 2001. Starting in 2002 Zamansky following the peak in the Nor- Am Cup. After numerous top-10 results and first podium he celebrated on 6 January 2004 in the giant slalom at Sunday River his first victory. In the slalom standings, he finished the 2003/ 04 second place. Finally, in the 2005/06 season he won the overall and the giant slalom rating for himself with two victories in the giant slalom at Hunter Mountain and five other podium finishes (2x Giant Slalom, Super G and 2x 1x slalom). In the other disciplines he reached overall placings in the top ten.

In addition to the Nor- Am Cup Zamansky was also regularly since 2001 in the European Cup at the start and since October 2002 in the World Cup. However, his first year in the World Cup went with little success. He started almost exclusively in the giant slalom and the slalom, but managed to qualify for the second round of the 30 best first ever. The season 2006/ 07 he had a knee injury that he suffered in the World Cup giant slalom in Hinterstoder, quit in December. The following season, 2007/ 08, he reached the second place in the giant slalom in the Nor- Am Cup scoring with three podium finishes.

In the World Cup itself Zamansky concentrated after his knee injury entirely on the giant slalom. Finally, he won on December 21, 2008 in his 33rd World Cup race, the giant slalom on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia, with room 24, the first World Cup points. In the next giant slalom of the season 2008/ 09 at Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden he could score as 27, which he qualified within the U.S. Ski Team for the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere. There, however, he dropped out in the first round. A week after the World Cup Zamansky reached 15th place in the giant slalom in Sestriere best World Cup result of his career. The next winter he was able to score twice in the World Cup, as 25 in Beaver Creek and 27 in Val d'Isere. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished 31st place in the giant slalom. In May 2010 Zamansky announced his resignation. Since then, he starts sporadically at FIS races.
