Jakob Kölliker

Jacob " Kobi " Kölliker ( born July 21, 1953 in Biel), a former Swiss ice hockey player and current coach.

Playing career

Kölliker played in 1973 at the age of 20 years, the first time for the Swiss national ice hockey team. Two Olympic Games and twelve Hockey World Championships later he had set up with a total of 213 international matches a stick in the memory of many hockey fans have remained long-standing national record. This was surpassed only in February 2007 by Martin Stein Egger, who in turn was replaced by Ivo Rüthemann as international record in April 2009.

The defender Kölliker played at the national level in over 500 league games and won three championships with the EHC Biel.

Coaching career

After he finished his playing career, he returned as coach for EHC Biel. As a result, he worked at various Swiss team. Later, he was coach of the Swiss U-20 ice hockey team and at the same time an assistant to Ralph Krueger at the Swiss national ice hockey team until the year 2010.

In 2007 he was honored for his achievements with induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame.

From 2011 to 2012 Kölliker was to succeed Uwe Krupp coach of the German national ice hockey team, but was released after the 12th place at the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2012 from his duties.

In November 2012 Kölliker returned as head of sport to the SCL Tigers. In April 2013, he stepped in as interim coach for the remaining play-offs, but could not avoid relegation in the National League B.
