James Neilson (director)

James Neilson ( born October 1, 1909 in Shreveport, Louisiana, † December 9, 1979 in Flagstaff, Arizona ) was an American film director. He has directed over 60 productions for film and television directing, including for movies such as The clock runs out, champagne in Paris, The Treasure million or Hot Colts in hard fists.

Life and work

James Neilson worked as a stage manager for Guthrie McClintic in the 1930s. He then worked as a photographer before he came to the early 1950s for the film to regularly implement them orders for the Walt Disney Studios as a director. There also emerged a number of films for other studios, including comedies and thrillers, but also adventure films or westerns like The clock has expired from 1957 with James Stewart and Audie Murphy or 1967 Hot Colts in hard fists with Robert Taylor and Chad Everett in the lead roles.

In addition, James Neilson staged in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, numerous episodes of well-known television series, including episodes of The Boss, Bonanza, Batman, west of Santa Fé, Zorro, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Department M, growing up would have to be on the run, high Chaparral and the Men from Shiloh Ranch.

His last work was in 1973 when he won the Mark Twain novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer adapted for television. It played Josh Albee, Jeff Tyler, Buddy Ebsen, Jane Wyatt, Vic Morrow and John McGiver.

On December 9, 1979 Neilson died in Flagstaff, Arizona, at the age of 70 years.
