James P. Scoblick

James Paul Scoblick ( born May 10, 1909 in Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, † December 4, 1981 ) was an American politician. Between 1946 and 1949 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Scoblick attended the public schools of his home and then the St. Thomas High School in Scranton. Subsequently, he studied until 1930 at Fordham University in New York City. Later, he was still there at the Columbia University. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In Lackawanna County, he was a member of the Department of Public Assistance Board.

After the resignation of Representative John W. Murphy Scoblick was at the due election for the seat tenth of Pennsylvania as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on November 5, 1946. Since he was elected at the same time for the next legislative session in Congress, he could remain until January 3, 1949 there. In 1948, he was not nominated by his party for re-election, which was related to his support for the unpopular in his native Taft-Hartley Act. His time as a congressman was shaped by the events of the early Cold War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives James Scoblick worked as a consultant for the food industry. He died on December 4, 1981 in his home town of Archbald.
