Jan Allan

Jan Allan ( * as Jan Bertil Allan on November 7, 1934 in Falun ) is a Swedish jazz trumpeter and composer, as well as physicists.

January Allan began his career in 1951 as a pianist, moved to Stockholm and then switched to the trumpet as his main instrument. During this time he played in the orchestra of Carl -Henrik Norin; In 1954/55 he worked with Lars Gullin / Rolf Bill Berg, 1955-59 Carl -Henrik Norin. At the same time he earned a doctoral degree in physics. Despite the relatively small number of its own records Allen is one of the important musicians of modern jazz in Sweden. From 1960-63, he led a quintet with Bill Berg; He then worked in the 1960s, inter alia, with Arne Domnérus, Georg Riedel and Bengt Hallberg. From 1968 bid 1975 he was a member of the Swedish Radio Jazz Group. His album Jan Allan -70 received a Grammy in 1970 for Best Jazz production. It involved Rolf Ericson, Nils Lindberg, Bobo Stenson, Jon Christensen and Rune Gustafson. With this and Georg Riedel Allan played in 1992, the trio album Sweet And Loverly one. In 2009 he was awarded the Swedish Django d'Or as the master of jazz.
