Roger Kellaway

Roger Kellaway ( born November 1, 1939 in Waban, Massachusetts ) is an American jazz pianist, composer and producer.

Life and work

Roger Kellaway studied in the late 1950s at the New England Conservatory, spent the early 1960s in New York, played piano with Kai Winding, Al Cohn and Zoot Sims, and from 1964 regularly in the Clark-Terry/Bob-Brookmeyer-Band. 1966 Kellaway went to California, played in the big band by Don Ellis and took the solo album Stride! on. Now he has been active as a composer of works in the Third Stream direction, wrote several pieces for cello quartet and orchestra, among others for the George Balanchine New York City Ballet. Sideline for TV and film plates with Ruby Braff took Kellaway, Kenny Burrell, Tony Coe, Maynard Ferguson, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Carmen McRae, Wes Montgomery, Art Pepper, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Mariano, Oliver Nelson, Zoot Sims, Dick Sudhalter, Mads Vinding, Putte Wickman and others on.
