Jan Blokhuijsen

January Blokhuijsen ( born April 1, 1989 in Zuid -Scharwoude ) is a Dutch speed skater who specializes in long-haul and the team competition.

In the junior Blokhuijsen won the 2007 and 2008 a total of three world championship titles. He was twice in the team competition and once successfully in the all around.

Blokhuijsen took part in the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. In team competition, he won the bronze medal with Sven Kramer and Mark Tuitert.

His biggest success was achieved Blokhuijsen at the World Championships 2012 in Heerenveen, where he also together with Sven Kramer and Koen Verweij won the gold medal in the team competition. In the same cast manages to successfully defend the title at the World Championships in 2013 in Sochi.

Blokhuijsen studied history at the University of Groningen.
