Janina Karolchyk-Pravalinskaya

Janina Prawalinskaja - Karoltschyk (White Russian Яніна Правалінская - Карольчык, English transcription Yanina Pravalinskaya - Karolchyk, born Karoltschyk, . Born 26 December 1976) is a Belarusian shot putter and Olympic champion.

After winning the silver medal at the 1995 European Junior Championships, she won as the next major international step, the bronze medal at the European Athletics Championships 1998 in Budapest. The White Russian Championships, she won in 1997 and 1998.

At the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000, she won the gold medal with a distance of 20.56 meters ahead of Larissa Peleschenko (RUS ) and Astrid Kumbernuss (GER ), and just as she won at the IAAF 2001 World Championships in Edmonton with a width of 20, 61 meters in front of Nadine Kleinert (GER) and Wita Pawlysch (UKR ).

In 2003, she tested positive for the agent clenbuterol. Then, a two-year suspension was imposed for doping against them.

At the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka she finished tenth.

Janina Prawalinskaja - Karoltschyk is 1,87 m tall and weighs 95 kg. She is married since 2006 with the singer Uladsimer Prawalinski, with whom she has a daughter born in 2005.
