Janne Leskinen

Janne Leskinen ( born July 24, 1974 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish former ski racer. He started for the ski club of his birthplace, the Puijon Hiihtoseura.

His greatest successes came in the Super -G and giant slalom; in both disciplines, he won several times the Finnish championship. Leskinen was one of the first Finnish alpine skier, who reached top rankings even in international competitions. In 1988 he became junior vice- world champion in giant slalom. From the winter 1991/92 he regularly took part in competitions of the world cup, but could rarely occupy top positions. Only three times he reached the top ten, his best result in 1996 was a fourth place in the Super G in Garmisch -Partenkirchen.

The highlight of his career was the Alpine Ski World 1996 in the Sierra Nevada. In the super -G, he finished fourth in the combination Fifteenth.

1998 Leskinen was at Yllästunturi again Finnish champion in the super - G; after the winter he finished his career. Today he is active in the coaching staff of the Finnish Alpine.
