Janov (Rychnov nad Kněžnou District)

Janov ( German Johannes yards ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers east of Nove Mesto nad Metují in the Eagle Mountains and belongs to Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou.

Geography

Janov is in the northwest of the Eagle Mountains between the valleys of the streams and creek Janovský Ohnišovský creek.

Neighboring towns are Tis the north, Sněžné in the northeast, Sedloňov in the east, in the southeast Dobřany, Bystré in the south, Ohnišov the southwest, Vanovka in the west and Bohdašín in the northwest.

History

Both Janov and Tis were first mentioned in the year 1544th Until the replacement of patrimonial regimes in 1848 Janov belonged to the rule Opočno. 1850 was the place to Bezirkshauptmannschaft Neustadt an der Mettau and remained until the dissolution of Nove Mesto nad Metují Okres in 1949 this district belongs. Between 1949 and 1960 the town was part of the Okres Dobruška and since then is one to Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou.

  • Marian pilgrimage church Rokole, the river Olešenka at Tis. 1930 consecrated church replaced a wooden chapel from 1859. Continue is the pilgrimage to the Apostles Chapel Betlem of the Schoenstatt Movement. The stone Stations of the Cross of the Valley of Olešenka was created in 1874.
