Jarmila Kratochvílová ( listen / i;? Born January 26, 1951 in Golčův Jenikov ) is a former Czech track and field athlete.

She ran on July 26, 1983 in Munich, 800 meters in 1:53,28 min. Since then, no woman was faster. It is the oldest officially recognized and still existing outdoor world record athletics (Updated: August 28, 2011; older are only Junior World Records). They also introduced in the same year a world record over 400 meters on ( 47.99 s), where she was the first woman under 48 seconds. This record has since be undercut only by Marita Koch ( 47.60 s ).

After winning an Olympic silver medal in 1980, 1983 she was double World Champion. At the 1984 Olympics she was unable to attend because of the boycott of the Eastern Bloc countries.

Jarmila Kratochvílová now works as a trainer.

Doping

Due to their physical physique their doping was said. On doping addressed squarely, she said in 2011, the FAZ: You understand neither as victims nor doping as one of the policy. They had been forced to do anything. Once a week they got syringes. These included allegedly vitamin B12.
