Jaroslav Sakala

Jaroslav Sakala (born 14 July 1969 Krnov ) is a former Czech (until 1992 Czechoslovak ) ski jumpers.

Career

He had his first World Cup competition on January 15, 1989 in Harrachov. After a few years in the sporting midfield he celebrated at the Olympic Winter Games in 1992 his first major success with the Czechoslovak team he won the bronze medal. With a common Czech and Slovak team Sakala was runner-up at the 1993 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun. He also won silver on the large hill and bronze on the normal hill.

In the Four Hills Tournament 1992/93 he was in third place in the standings on the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck by a second place in the third jump. His first World Cup victory he celebrated on 30 January 1993 at the Kulm ski jump in Tauplitz / Bad Mitterndorf, the day after he won the same place again. His only victory on a regular ski jump he succeeded on 16 January 1994 at the home of Liberec. With his fourth and final World Cup victory, he was on March 20, 1994 at the same time ski flying world champion. In the overall World Cup standings, he was in 1992/93 Second, in the following season fourth.

In the following years Sakala could not be linked to these successes, and he rarely reached the second round; on flying hills to him but more often made ​​the jump into the top ten. In 2002, he finished his career.

In September 2008, Sakala took over the vacated after the dismissal of Pavel Mikeska post as head coach of the Czech national ski jumping team of ladies.
