Jeff Harding (boxer)

Jeff Harding ( born February 5, 1965 in Sydney ) is an Australian former boxer.

Amateur

Harding in 1984 and 1985 Australian champion at middleweight. In 1985, he won the discharged in Melbourne Ozeanienmeisterschaft in this weight class. In 1986 he won at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh a second place and took part in the amateur world championships in Reno, where he was eliminated in the first round, however.

Professional career

The powerful and hard-hitting attack Boxer Harding in 1986 in his native Australia professional. He won all his construction fights such as against Nestor Giovannini ( point victory ) and got after only 14 professional fights of a title shot at WBC association against Dennis Andries, whom he defeated on June 24, 1989 in the U.S. by technical knockout in the twelfth round.

After two title defenses against Tom Collins and again Giovanini (this time KO) Harding lost on 28 July 1990 title rematch with Andries, to this won by KO in round seven.

After three construction disputes, among other things, against David Vedder, took place on September 11, 1991 in London for the decisive battle against Andries in England. Again won the challenger, this time on points.

He defended against former world title holder at super middleweight Christophe Tiozzo ( the older brother of Fabrice Tiozzo ) in France and won against this after some initial problems eventually prematurely. Then he was again challenged by David Vedder ( Record 15-10 ). Around this time, won Henry Maske and Dariusz Michalczewski their titles, mask against the highest rated by Ring Magazine Charles Williams, Michalczewski against the run at number four Leeonzer Barber. Virgil Hill was considered at that time as number two, Harding as number three in the light heavyweight division.

Following the Vedder fighting Harding had no real wish to box and remained inactive. Finally, he lost his title on 23 July 1994 on points against the 37- year-old former Halbmittelgewichtler Mike McCallum. He then finished his career at the age of 29 years.
