Jelena Glebova

Jelena Glebova ( born June 16, 1989 Tallinn, Estonian SSR, Soviet Union) is an Estonian figure skater. She is a multiple national champion.

Until the 2010/11 season Glebova was trained by the former Soviet figure skater Anna Levandi (as Active known by her birth name Kondraschowa ) and started for the club Anna Levandi FSC. Since the 2011/12 season she trains in the U.S. Hackensack under Igor Krokavec and Craig Maurizi. Her older brother Ilja Glebov is also skaters. He is a multiple Estonian champion in pair skating.

Career

In 2003 Glebova first time at the Estonian Championships and finished third. In 2004 she was Estonian champion and began to participate in international competitions. At the Junior World Championships, she occupies the 27th rank. 2005 they could advance with 8th place at the Junior Grand Prix in Long Beach in the top ten of an international competition for the first time. They, in turn, won the Estonian Championships and competed at the European Championships and Senior World Championships.

In 2006, Glebova at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin. She arrived there the 26th place. At the European Championships they improved from rank 25 to rank 15 in the previous year. In 2007, she celebrated with third place behind her compatriot Svetlana Issakova the Junior Grand Prix in Liberec their first podium finish at an international competition. At the Junior World Championships, she finished sixth. In the Senior World Championships Glebova could improve by 15 places and took the 18 rank in comparison to 2005. In the 2008 season Glebova started for the first time at the Grand Prix at senior level. In the Nebelhorn Trophy she could win the sixth. In December 2007, Glebova suffered an injury of the knee and had to take a six-week break from training, so they could not participate in the National Championships and the European Championships. Only five weeks before the Junior World Championships Glebova started training again on the ice. After a good short program with number five on the training deficit became apparent during the freestyle and Glebova fell back to eleventh place. Then she also started at the Senior World Championships. After a 20th place in the short program, itself Glebova, only athlete improved Yukari Nakano next came without error by the freestyle, by the tenth best freestyle all starters on the 15th place. Also in the European Figure Skating Championships 2009 in Helsinki Glebova managed a good free program. So they improved with the ninth best freestyle from 13 to twelfth place. Glebova took part in the 2009 Winter Universiade in Harbin, where they narrowly missed out in fourth place medal. Her best career result in an international championship succeeded Glebova at the European Figure Skating Championship 2010 in Tallinn home, where she was able to improve from 13th place to tenth place despite a crash at the triple loop jumps in the free skate. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 and the World Championships this season they disappointed with each in 21st place. At the beginning of the 2010/2011 season they finished only third in the championship behind Estonian Gerli Liinamäe and Svetlana Issakova. Nevertheless, they started at the World Figure Skating Championships 2011 in Moscow, where they disappointed again with a 22nd place. After her move to the U.S. they could able to return to their good performance. In the European Figure Skating Championships 2012 in Sheffield, she took eleventh place. At the World Figure Skating Championships 2012 in Nice, it reached the tenth best freestyle and 13th overall, her best career result ei a World Figure Skating Championships.
