Jesper Duus

Jesper Duus (* November 24, 1967 in Glostrup ) is a former Danish ice hockey player and coach.

Career

Jesper Duus began his career as a hockey player in his native Denmark at Hvidovre Ishockey, for the first team, he made his debut in the second Danish league in the 1982/83 season. Then the defender played four years for the Rødovre Mighty Bulls in the AL -Bank Ligaen, with whom he was Danish Champion in the 1985/86 season. He was then in the twelfth round selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1987 as a total of 241 players from the Edmonton Oilers, for whom he never played, however. Instead, he stood from 1987 to 1996 a total of seven years at Färjestad BK in the Swedish Elitserien under contract. With the Swedes in 1988, he at first champion. In addition, he lost with his crew in 1988 and 1990 only in the playoff finals.

For the 1996/97 season changed Duus for SB Rosenheim in the German Hockey League, for whom he was able to achieve three goals and eight assists in 42 games give. He spent the following season in the VEU Feldkirch, with which he was Austrian champion, before he returned to Rosenheim for the 1998/99 season. It was followed by two years for the Danish national team at MODO Hockey in the Swedish Elitserien, which he failed to Djurgårdens IF 2000 playoff finals.

From 2001 to 2003 Duus played for his former club Hvidovre Ishockey in the AL -Bank Ligaen. There he was able to convince, so he was chosen in the season 2002/ 03 as the best Danish players in the league. Subsequently, he also spent two seasons with the league rivals Herlev Hornets, where he worked as a player-coach. Another two years of the right shooter stood at the Rødovre Mighty Bulls under contract, in which he simultaneously worked as a player and as an assistant coach in the first of two seasons. After a one year stint in Hvidovre at his now renamed Totempo HvIK previous employer where in 51 games he scored 32 points scorer and was voted into the All-Star team in the league, he played from 2008 to 2011 again for Rødovre, for the he was an assistant captain. In the 2011/12 season he was back for the Herlev Eagles on the ice before he ended his career at the age of 44 years at the end of the season.

Internationally

For Denmark Duus participated in the C world championships in 1990 and 1991, as well as the B World Championships in 1989, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2001 in part. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the A World Championships in 2003, 2004 and 2010. At World Championships Duus achieved up to and including the 2010 World Cup in 87 games 19 goals and gave 32 templates (51 points scorer ).
