Jesús del Muro

Jesús del Muro López ( born November 30, 1937) is a former Mexican football player who acted in defense. Immediately after the end of his active career, he worked for a period of almost 30 years as a coach.

Association

Del Muro began his professional career in 1957 when CF Atlas, in which he stood for eight years under contract. For the 1965/66 season he moved to the Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, before he joined the CD Cruz Azul, which matured in those years as the best team of Mexico. With the exception of season 1969/70, in which he stood at Deportivo Toluca FC under contract, he played until the end of his playing career in the 1971/72 season exclusively for Cruz Azul.

National

His debut in the Mexican national was Jesús del Muro at the opening match of the Football World Cup 1958 against hosts Sweden, which was lost with 0:3. He also denied the other two games in the 1958 World Cup in Mexico as well as all the games in the World Cup 1962. During those six games, he always occupied the position of right-back. His seventh and final World Cup match he played at the Football World Cup 1966 against hosts England (0:2) as a central defender.

Coach

Immediately after the end of his active career he had coach commitment to Toluca, Pachuca and Jalisco, before he coached various youth national teams over a period of more than 20 years.
