Jimmy Rosenberg

Jimmy Rosenberg (Joseph Rosenberg, born April 10, 1980 in Helmond ) is a Dutch jazz guitarist.

Life and work

Originally from a Sinti family Rosenberg is the cousin of Nonnie, Nous'che and Stochelo Rosenberg. In early childhood, he played the violin before joining a seven year old guitar. In 1989 he joined John Jeremy's documentary Django 's Legacy on with the trio Gypsy Kids.

In 1991, he appeared at the Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois -sur -Seine and played at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw a duo with Stéphane Grappelli. The following year he took on the CD with the Safari Gipsy Kids. It was followed by appearances with Biréli Lagrène, Stochelo Rosenberg, Angelo Debarre, Philip Catherine and others.

In 1996 he founded with Johnny and Rinus Steinbach Gipsy Trio, with whom he undertook a tour of the U.S. in the same year and recorded the eponymous album. In Norway, the group played with Babik Reinhardt on the album Hot Shots.

After a tour through Norway and Sweden Rosenberg appeared in the 1998 New York's Carnegie Hall with Les Paul, George Benson and Frank Vignola. 2000 was a second performance at Carnegie Hall, he also starred with Babik Reinhardt and Biréli Lagrène the jazz club Birdland.

After 2000, Rosenberg worked primarily in Norway, where he released several albums under the label Hot Club Records. 2006 appeared Jeroen Berkvens ' documentary Jimmy Rosenberg, De vader, de Zoon & het talent, who received several awards at the Krakow Film Festival the following year.
